A fully-funded postdoctoral researcher position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Bret Pearson at the Pape Family Pediatric Research Institute, Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, OR. We are currently building our team and looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow interested in studying the molecular connections between stem cell biology, neural injury, and neural cancer biology, primarily using the unique combination of model systems: freshwater planarians and zebrafish (https://www.bretpearsonlab.org). We use cutting edge genomic and imaging techniques to understand fundamental questions in adult stem cell biology in...
The successful candidate will work as Project Leader on a variety of projects under the direction of Andrew W McHill, PhD, Assistant Professor and Director of the Sleep, Chronobiology, and Health Laboratory within the OHSU School of Nursing. The Postdoctoral fellow will work on research that is aimed at understanding the effects of disturbed sleep and circadian rhythms on physiology and pathophysiology in humans. In particular, we are investigating the adverse health effects of short and disrupted sleeping patterns, food choice, shift work, and the mechanisms underlying the adverse health of performing activities during the night. These studies will lead to interventions designed to improve the health,...
This postdoctoral researcher will assist the PI with NIHs grant to build capacity that will fill critical research and practice gaps in cancer, exercise and aging. They will specifically help oversee and manage study activities for projects that use technology to track multi-dimensional functioning in older cancer survivors undergoing treatment and a phase II exercise intervention in functionally-limited cancer survivors. They will help assist with and run a patient advisory group, under the direction of the Knight Community Outreach and Engagement program; will help oversee either a longitudinal observation study and/or a clinical exercise trial. The postdoctoral fellow can gain experience in using...
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with molecular biology research staff and work under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and a staff scientist.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing and optimizing high-throughput (epi)genomic assays—such as Micro-C, CUT&RUN, RNA-seq, and ATAC-seq—across multiple species and tissue types.
- Analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data using established pipelines and open-source bioinformatics tools.
- Integrating multi-omic datasets to advance the lab’s research on genome architecture and neurodevelopment.
Additional responsibilities include contributing to...
The Eksi Lab at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral fellow with expertise in cancer biology, neurobiology, or neuroimmunology. Our research focuses on how sympathetic nerve signaling remodels the tumor microenvironment
- Engage in experimental design, data collection, and data analysis while in the course of day to day lab duties; perform experiments including viral and allergen administration, airway physiology experiments, histology analysis, immunohistochemistry, small animal imaging, qPCR, and cell culture techniques, among others.
- Prepare results for publication and presentation, including background literature review & data analysis, at regular lab meetings, seminars, and conferences.
- Attend and present technical status reports at meetings
-
To perform, collect and analyze research procedures in all aspects of laboratory setting and ensure accuracy and progression of research projects, including but not limit to:
- Collect and analyze research data
- Keep accurate details of experimental procedures and original data
- Prepare research summaries, abstracts, manuscripts
- Develops and document standardized lab protocols, and assist with training of...
The anxiety postdoctoral position emphasizes behavioral health and includes evaluation, treatment, and optional research activities within the Anxiety Treatment and Diagnostic Intake clinics. The post-doctoral fellow will provide diagnostic intake assessments, and outpatient intervention services to medically, developmentally, or psychologically complex or treatment refractory patients with anxiety and related disorders. Inpatient consultation service experiences are available and encouraged. Patients are primarily referred from OHSU subspecialty or general pediatric clinics and providers, or seen in response to inpatient consultation. Services will be provided primarily at Doernbecher...
The successful candidate will work independently to investigate the molecular mechanisms that support health associated polymicrobial communities. He/she will be responsible for most of the planning, implementation, and data interpretation associated with his/her research. Thus, the candidate will be expected to work independently with attention to detail and strong record-keeping. The goal is to understand how the oral flora interacts and lead to early childhood caries disease development. This includes intra, inter microbial and potentially host interactions. Typical laboratory techniques often require expertise with gene expression analysis, targeted mutagenesis, microscopy, bacterial community analysis, and multiple `omics analysis.
Technical Research:
Independently conduct cutting-edge research on the development and delivery of various gene correction constructs using both in vitro and in vivo models. These responsibilities include:
- design and optimize gene editing constructs for targeted genome modifications,
- employ iPSC derivation techniques and perform thorough characterization to ensure the quality and integrity of cell lines used in the research,
- day to day maintenance of cell cultures,
- perform molecular, histological, and immunocytochemical analyses to evaluate the effects of genome editing on targeted cells and tissues,
- implement effective methodologies to deliver gene editing constructs into fibroblasts and iPSCs,...
