Department Overview

The Department of Pediatrics is located with Doernbecher Children's Hospital at Oregon Health & Science University.

Function/Duties of Position

Postdoctoral position will focus on the discovery and validation of new therapeutic targets in hematologic malignancies and the molecular characterization of somatic changes and aberrant signaling pathways underlying disease pathogenesis.  Candidates are expected to have substantial experience in molecular biology, biochemical techniques, and in vivo studies.  In addition to wet lab capabilities the optimal candidate will also have experience in working with large annotated datasets. A basic understanding of genomic analyses methods and/or use of computational methods for identifying common mutations and activated pathways would be highly valuable.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD
  • Ability to operate complex scientific equipment
  • In depth knowledge of specific areas of responsibility
  • Ability to work with and supervise junior staff
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
  • Must have excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills:  both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems.
  • Must be proficient with computers running Windows and PC applications e.g. MS Excel, Oracle, Access, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Must have demonstrated excellent customer service skills both on the phone and in person.
  • Must possess energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree in science or technology
  • 4 or more years of related laboratory experience
  • Molecular Biology and Protein Expression
  • In vivo studies in the murine model
