Function/Duties of Position

The Frank lab in the Department of Chemical Physiology and Biochemistry at Oregon Health & Science University is seeking an energetic Postdoctoral Researcher with a neuroscience background to work on a project studying the effects of endocannabinoid signaling on sugar reward/addiction. The project involves applying slice electrophysiology and/or in vivo experiments (device implantations, fiber photometry, and behavioral assays) in combination with novel photochemical tools to manipulate cannabinoid signaling on specific circuits in the reward system.


Salary for this position aligns with the NIH Scale.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Physiology, or related field
  • Experience working in a neuroscience lab
  • Research experience with rodents
  • Experience with:
    • Behavioral assays in rodents
    • Stereotaxic surgeries
    • Electrophysiology
    • Fluorescence imaging
    • MATLAB
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and oral formats
  • Ability to work both independently and with others in a positive and productive manner
  • Ability to analyze data and write up the results into appropriate report and manuscript form for peer-reviewed publications
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
  • High level of self-motivation and integrity
  • Organizational skills and careful attention to details to satisfactorily perform job duties
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments and cordially coordinate use of research equipment and laboratory space with other staff
